yarn, yarn, yarn

Last week I finished this:
P4170077

4.5 oz (over 500 yards of fingering weight yarn) of Crown Mountain Farms in the love me tender colorway,
I love this roving it spins like a dream and you get a lot of sock yarn. So now I have 2 finished colors and my own Sock Hop Yarn, I hated waiting for the update and never getting any yarn, so I took matters into my own hands and made my own.
Now I'm working on the Magic Carpet Ride, I have one bobbin full and this week I'll be finishing #2.

On other news my mom is coming to visit for a couple of weeks, I'm cleaning and organizing the fabric stash and yarn.

....Making yarn
P1010009 100% Superwash Merino from the amazing  Fiber Fiend, the Ocean colorway.
I love this stuff, spins super easy and is sooo soft!
I have a little under 300 yards (if my calculations are correct) of fingering weight. I'm starting some socks soon.

100% Australian Superwash Merino from  the Fiber Fiend
120 yards of the Mulberry Colorway, worsted weight and navajo plied (this was my first atempt on this technique)
This roving was nice and soft, easy to spin. The color keeps you entertained, I have 3 other colors from Margit to spin up, as for this one it will probably become a hat. Any suggestions?
Here is a close up.

Periwinkle beret

As soon she saw the pattern, she said to me Mom please make me one in black! So we went off to the yarn shop and picked up a pretty soft BLACK yarn, a week (or so) later here it is, she didn't even let me  block the beret!
Happy mademoiselle!

Perfect Day!

Saturday was a beautiful day, we could not stay indoors, so at around 1:30 pm we loaded the canoe and went to Vasona Park, it was great and so relaxing. We all had a great time, even my sock see?

Monkey Socks

Well they are done and ready for gifting to my mom (when she comes to visit ) I had a lot of fun making these socks, the pattern is easy to remember and it knits up quickly. Yarn is Socks that Rock in heavy metal (light weight) needles size 2US (Knitpicks) with magic loop method.  I will probably make this pattern again but use a different yarn, maybe a solid? We'll see.

Next week is Stitches West, I'm taking 2 classes (3 hours each) I'm looking forward to learning some new stuff and also getting some yarn and fiber, not too much though, I've been cutting back on my purchases. Although you can never have too much sock yarn!!;0)

I have a couple of projects on the needles and between my last post and this one I have finished a few things, I guess life just gets busy sometimes.
