the wool festival

P9150015Yes this is an angora rabbit being sheared by this guy at the Ca. Wool and fiber festival in Boonville last weekend, It was a nice and relaxing weekend and my wallet didn't suffer too much,
I did come out with some fiber, a spindle and finally a yard meter!
But the nicest thing was meeting some really nice people like:
Maia, Margit and the folks at the booth form the Sacramento spinning and weaving guild.

Here are some more pics (my camera is pretty crappy, sorry

What I did this weekend

I finished the CW shawl! yippee!!, made 10 cups of blackberry jam with fruit we picked ourselves, it turned out yummy if I say so myself! and finished spinning, plying and winding 4 oz of the Fiber Fiend's roving.
See for yourself. I was a good girl, just don't ask about the laundry OK?

just blogging..

P5020009I wish I could just finish this, i am 9 rows til the end, 9 freakin rows, I just keep putting it down and cannot do it.
This project has been OTN for 2 years now, I want to finish it, I'm sick of knitting it! But I love the design and the yarn.

What the heck! I've been sitting around working and browsing the net I want to make so many things, socks, shawls, I want to be on Ravelry!, I want a new camera and I want my kids to go back to school, they start next week!
I love summer, but this year we didn't really go anywhere, we made a couple of special trips, but that's it, I want my routine back and I want to be able to knit for hours.
Whiny enough for you! Oh well. tomorrow is a new day and I'll be in a better mood.

Patiently waiting...

Sockapalooooza 4 socks finished...

And on their way to my pal!  yeah! I thought I was never going to finish knitting these, with my parents and sister visiting this summer and crazy work schedule life got in the way of knitting!! Funny how that happens.
Here they are
Pattern: Broadripple  from Knitty
Yarn: Handpainted Sock from Cookie A. (I got this at Stitches this year) 100% Superwash Merino
Needles: US 2 (2.75mm) KnitPicks Options (magic loop) garter stitch short row heel.

I really hope my pal likes them and one little hint... They are not traveling far....

Still kickin..

I can't believe it's been that long since I posted, bad blogger!!  know, we have been swamped with work and with the kids out of school it makes it hard to get away to get some free time.
I've been knitting away and quietly finishing some projects, one is the Charlotte's Web shawl, some handspun socks and of course the famous sockapalooza socks.

Coming up next, knitted socks and more stuff the Fiber Fiend

sick

My son is sick, stomach flu I think, can't keep anything down, hopefully is the kind of flu that lasts 24 hrs.
While taking care of him, I finished spinning the Magic Carpet roving and started plying it, even though I divided it in equal lengths the colors are "very variegated" oh well, I guess that's the beauty of hand spun yarn. eh?
My mom will be here Thursday night to visit from Ecuador, I'm so excited, this is the first time in 12 years that we'll be together for Mother's day. I'm happy about that.
In other news I got my sockapaloza 4 pal info today and I guess I have to start thinking on what to knit for her, I don't want to be to picky about it, but i am a perfectionist and I want her to be happy.
Photos to come later this week, after all returns to normal.

Rooster Rock Socks

These were finished last week
The specs:
Yarn: My own handspun (3 ply) from Blue Moon Sheep2Shoe Roving
Color: Rooster Rock
Pattern: Simple toe up using the Magic Loop, Judy's Magic Cast On and Garter Stitch short row heels, I did a couple of increases in the back to accommodate my shapely legs.
After washing, these came out super soft and warm, they are definitely  not summer socks.
